What is the purpose of the Capital Campaign?
To communicate information that deepens our ownership for the Gull Lake Centre in order to raise $1,500,000 over three years to match the $1,500,000 gifts already committed. These funds will make it possible for the Centre to largely pay for and complete the new campus.
How will the campaign work?
Each family is being asked to pledge a confidential amount above and beyond their current level of givings for a three year period.
Why is every person invited to participate in giving?
Because the ministry of the Gull Lake Centre is bigger than any one of us. By joining together we can accomplish what would be impossible if only a few joined in.
How much am I to give?
Everything we have belongs to the Lord. God does not ask us to give that which we do not have. The more we receive, the more we can give. Christians should give freely as God’s Spirit leads and enables. Every gift is important no matter what the amount.
How do I decide what to give?
  • PRAY for God’s guidance with an open mind
  • ASK, “What does sacrificial giving mean to me?
  • STUDY Biblical examples and principles of giving and stewardship
  • DEVELOP a tentative list of possible gifts
  • ASK, “Will my gift affect my lifestyle?”  “Does my response express my faith in God?”
  • CONSIDER God’s leading with continued prayer
  • DECIDE and await confirmation from God, family and friends
  • REJOICE in the satisfaction of finding and following His will
  • MAKE your commitment cheerfully
  • FOLLOW THROUGH as God provides
How do we put into practice our theme, “Not Equal Gifts…But Equal Sacrifice”?
  • Re-assess Lifestyle: Let us objectively examine our lifestyle. Can we give up a few of our creature comforts or conveniences? Can we deny ourselves in some areas to give more to our Lord?
  • Re-adjust Priorities: Can we postpone a major purchase? Can we change some of our plans? Can we reorder our priorities to give funds to the Lord we would have spent on ourselves?
Will I be asked to fill out a commitment card?
Yes. You will receive a commitment card in the mail or through your church. The commitment card is a statement of your giving intentions and is not legally binding. It is good to fill out a commitment card for the following reasons:
  • Helps you set a goal for your giving
  • Helps you plan your giving in whatever way it works best for you
  • Helps us plan for the future
What happens if I am unable to meet or I fall behind on my pledge (lose job, major medical expense)?
Nothing! Your pledge is simply a statement of intent and can be revised.
Is my gift tax receiptable?
Yes. Income tax receipts will be issued by the Centre. Albertans now receive 50 cents in tax credits for every dollar donated over the $200 threshold.
How should I give my gifts?
Special envelopes for the capital campaign will be issued to you every quarter, or you can authorize the Gull Lake Centre to receive an automatic withdrawal from your bank account or credit card.
Are there other ways to give?
  • Stocks: You can donate publicly traded securities which have appreciated without paying any income taxes on the capital gains. In addition, you receive a tax receipt for the full value of the securities.
  • Matching gifts: Some corporations or employers will match a gift you give to the Centre by an equal amount.
  • Bequests: In your will you can make the Centre a beneficiary.

  • Gifts will be used to reach our communities for Christ.
  • Gifts to approved Gull Lake Centre programs/projects will be used as designated. When the need has been met or cannot be completed, funds will be redirected, by the Board, to similar projects or where most needed.
  • We will engage in full financial disclosure and will provide an Annual Report of all income and expenses to anyone who requests it.
  • We will not rent, sell or make available our donors’ names to any other organization. All information relating to your contributions is held in the strictest confidence.
